"Buyurun" — the first word a visitor hears at the door of a Grand Bazaar store. It means: please, come in. Look as long as you like. There is no pressure, no obligation. This is how we have welcomed guests since 1968, and it is how we work today.
Three generations of the Fırat family have kept this house in the bazaar — learning the materials, building the relationships, and taking the time with each visitor that good textile knowledge requires. We would be glad to do the same for you.
THE RANGE
Pieces to Take Home and Textiles to Keep
Our collections span a wide range — from smaller silk pocket squares and detailed cushion covers to large cashmere shawls and embroidered jackets intended to last a lifetime. Some pieces are chosen as gifts or mementos; others are investments in a material that improves with careful keeping.
We do not present our pieces by price. What we can tell you is that there is something here at every level of interest, and our team is always happy to help you find the right piece — whether you have five minutes or an afternoon. We take the same care with every visitor.
THE HOUSE
Craft Rooted in Place
Gülipek Hamit Fırat has been part of the Grand Bazaar since 1968 — a presence built by Hamit Fırat and continued through three generations of the family. The house's position in the bazaar is not incidental: Istanbul has been a centre of silk and textile trade for centuries, and this history runs through everything we carry.
The materials and techniques behind our collections — silk weaving, Ikat patterning, cashmere finishing and Suzani embroidery — each have their own place in this longer tradition.
OUR STORES
Three Doors in the Grand Bazaar
Our three stores are within walking distance of each other in the Beyazıt district of Fatih, Istanbul — each one part of the Grand Bazaar neighbourhood. Headquarters is at Cebeci Han No.31, Yağlıkçılar Atelier at No.69 on Yağlıkçılar Caddesi, and Divrikli House at No.49 on Divrikli Sokak.
Across our three locations, each store carries a distinct selection of scarves, shawls, Ikat and Suzani textiles. Handcrafted jackets are available at Headquarters No.31 and Divrikli House No.49; availability varies by location. We are open Monday to Saturday, 09:00–19:00.

Where exactly in the Grand Bazaar are your stores?
We have three locations in the Beyazıt district of Fatih, Istanbul. Headquarters: Yağlıkçılar Caddesi, Cebeci Han Girişi No:31. Yağlıkçılar Atelier: Yağlıkçılar Caddesi No:69. Divrikli House: Divrikli Sokak No:49. All three are open Monday to Saturday, 09:00–19:00.
What languages do your staff speak?
Our team speaks Turkish and English and can assist international visitors with product information, sizing, textile identification, and recommendations.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept cash in Turkish lira, euros, and US dollars, as well as credit and debit card payments at all three locations.
Do you ship textiles internationally?
We do not operate an online shop; our textiles are sold in person at our three Grand Bazaar stores. For specific enquiries from abroad, please email info@gulipekhamitfirat.com or reach us via WhatsApp and we will do our best to assist.
How can I verify the fibre content of your textiles?
Our silk pieces are clearly labelled for fibre content. Our cashmere items are genuine and selected by hand, not presented as synthetic imitations. Our staff are happy to explain the fibre content and quality of every piece in store.
